Residential driveway and grading job in Newcastle. Here are pictures of the driveway under construction and then finish grading with screened loam to make a beautiful new lawn.

Driveway construction and site prep’ for a new home in Newcastle.

Before starting…...

Road is excavated and ditching is done prior to putting gravel in.

The base gravel is in, the road extensions are seeded, the culvert is in and check damns are installed– next will come the surface gravel.

Left: Here we graded around a house in Waldoboro where we did the initial site work. We also prep’d  for a patio, and excavated for an additional driveway and parking area.

Left: We have excavated for a new garage and are in the process of backfilling for a slab and setting the perimeter drains in crushed stone.

Above & below: Here we’re building a new septic system designed by Ken Cotton in Walpole. It’s an Enviro-Septic system, which gravity feeds from the tank we installed below.  Below you can see that we’re compacting sand around the tank so that it won’t settle after we’re done and the tank is also protected from rocks.

Left: This is a road base that we’re building in Newcastle. We cleared the trees and set a culvert on the far side of the machine.

Above: Here we excavated for frost walls for a new building being constructed.

Above: This is an older house that needed a new foundation. We dug down to the footing to provide access to form up new poured concrete walls. Later we’ll install perimeter drains and backfill the foundation.

Above: He we are demolishing a mobile home and loading it into containers.  Also demo’d on this were two other buildings

We’re installing a culvert using the laser to be sure it’s on the proper grade and set with the proper pitch.

Left/Above: Here we’ve started to build a new road. We’ve crossed a stream and prep’d the area for gravel in the Spring. It’s stabilized with chopped hay for the winter.

Above: We’ve installed a new 1,500 gallon septic tank for a customer and we’re beginning to compact sand around the tank as we work our way up to finished grade.

Pictures above: Here we are working on a site work job. In the upper left corner Heritage Landscaping’s crew is clearing the area for the new road, after which we’ve begun hauling in the base material (to the right) and working our way up behind them. Then we installed a culvert and Chris is compacting around the new culvert. Later the road base is in and compacted with a roller in lifts. The area is stabilized with chopped hay and wood chips for the winter. Next we’ll return to dig for the foundation and electric service. In the Spring we’ll return and surface the road, build the septic system and do our finish grading.

The Kenworth waits for its next haul.

Above: We’re starting the build a road through the woods on this job. The upper left picture is before starting and the other two are during the tree clearing work. I’ve cut the trees and piled the brush for back-haul when we begin hauling in the base material for the road. More pictures to come as we move ahead.

Above: Here Grant Sorterup the owner of Heritage Landscaping has subcontracted me as an operator with my excavator to help him build a large retaining wall.  Breck and I have started the wall but we have a lot of work to do. More pictures as the job progresses.

Above and to the right the job progresses….the road cut is made above and then to the right the gravel begins to go in over the geotextile. The uphill ditch is also roughed in and the downhill shoulder is roughly graded. On the far right we’re moving along with a  grade cut to make the parking area and driveway match Heritage Landscaping’s stone wall elevation.

Below: We’ve made the frost wall cut and initial rough grade for a commercial building.   Right: The walls have been formed and we’re backfilling the foundation in lifts so we can compact the material as it’s placed.
